Meet E.J. Rohly! She lives in Columbus, Ohio, with her awesome husband and loves spending time with her three grown kids whenever they can all get together. Esther has taught preschool for over 30 years and also worked at her church as the Children's Director, where she created fun ways for kids to learn and grow. She's even helped homeless women get back on their feet.
Esther loves reading, writing, singing in her church choir, and hanging out with family and friends. In high school, she played the clarinet and sang in choir, and music is still a big part of her life. She’s a fan of funny stories and happy endings, and she writes mysteries and adventures to make middle schoolers laugh, think, and have fun. Esther hopes you enjoy her books as much as she loves writing them!
Background
E. J. Rohly grew up on a farm in rural Ohio, where her imagination had plenty of room to run wild. As a kid, she loved making up stories—especially when she babysat and could share her tales with the kids she watched. Sometimes, she even let them come up with their own endings! Making up stories is still one of her favorite things to do.
Esther went to school to learn more about teaching kids, and she became a preschool teacher, where she’s spent years creating fun ways for little ones to learn and grow. As her family grew, she took literature classes to get better at writing, hoping to someday write her own books. Now, she’s a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and continues to learn new things through writing classes. Today, she’s busy writing mysteries and adventures to spark imagination, just like her own love of stories sparked years ago on her family’s farm.
