About Me, My Journey

About Me, My Journey

As soon as I was old enough to read a good book, I would request someone to read to me or I would find a quiet place to sit and read. I loved the journeys that reading would take me on. Various times, my brother and I would play out the different journeys that we would read about. Some of my favorite authors were Beverly Cleary, Roald Dahl, and Shel Silverstein. Some Stories I grew up on are The Night Before Christmas, The Three Bears, Heidi, and The Little Red Hen. Of course, as I grew older, I liked Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys Mysteries. Books played an important role in my childhood.

My father also loved to tell stories. He had a way of bringing events to life in a fun way. He would read the wonderful stories of his early readers from school. One such story that I loved was called The Teeny Tiny Woman‌. My father encouraged my imagination as we would make up stories together waiting in a parking lot for my mother to shop. He used to help me by suggesting names for my imaginary characters and activities they might do daily. My father encouraged me to write stories. Even though my father is not with me to read my stories, he will always be in my head encouraging me.

My goal is to write stories that not only have a great moral but also entertain. My goal is to provide parents with good stories that children will love and they will love reading themselves.

My biggest support is my husband and my children, who encourage me and help me where they can. My favorite activity is to escape into a book when I am not writing. Thanks to years of teaching preschool and having had young children, I have lots of stories to write.

Some facts about me:

-I love cats, (even though I am allergic to them),

-Peanut M&Ms and pizza are my favorite two items to eat.

-Home cooked meal favorites include stuffed pork chops with strawberry shortcake for dessert.

-My family and friends are special to me. I love hanging out with and talking to each of them.

I believe that all of us need to be loving to each other. Helping and caring when someone needs help. No matter how old we are, we are never too old to learn these lessons.
